About the role:

The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role will focus on leveraging Power BI and other analytical tools to transform complex datasets into actionable insights, visualizations, and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, advanced expertise in Power BI, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic business objectives.

This position is Fixed Term 12 months based at Motion Industries, Chullora NSW.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights

• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Provide recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis to support business decision-making.
• Develop predictive and prescriptive analytics models to forecast business outcomes.

Power BI Development and Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations tailored to business needs.
• Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and usability, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Create and manage Power BI data models, including DAX calculations and relationships.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.

Data Management

• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into Power BI.
• Ensure data integrity and quality by implementing robust data validation and governance practices.
• Work with database systems such as SQL Server, or other cloud-based platforms to integrate data.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business teams to understand their data needs and provide tailored analytical solutions.
• Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as a subject matter expert on Power BI and data analytics, mentoring junior analysts and team members.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with the latest features and advancements in Power BI and other relevant tools.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data analysis and reporting efficiency.
• Contribute to the development of data analytics best practices and standards within the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and managing data from relational databases.
• Proven ability to analyze and interpret data to deliver actionable insights.
• Experience working with large datasets and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
